Apple, Motorola in patent struggle in Germany (AP)

FRANKFURT, Germany ? Apple Inc. has temporarily blocked Motorola Mobility's attempt to have it withdraw several iPhone and iPad models from its Internet store in Germany, the latest twist in an extended legal duel over patents between the companies.

The sale of the devices was briefly halted after Libertyville, Ill.-based Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. enforced a ruling it won against Ireland-based Apple Sales International Inc., from a court in Mannheim, Germany.

The court had earlier ruled that Apple should not be using Motorola's mobile technology in the devices without a license.

Motorola Mobility moved to enforce the decision and Apple announced Thursday it was halting online sales. A few hours later, Apple said it had won a suspension from an appeals court in Karlsruhe.

"All iPad and iPhone models will be back on sale through Apple's online store in Germany shortly," Apple said in a statement. "Apple appealed this ruling because Motorola repeatedly refuses to license this patent to Apple on reasonable terms, despite having declared it an industry standard patent seven years ago."

Apple says Motorola Mobility has refused to license the technology even though Motorola agreed it should be an industry standard.

In a statement Friday, Motorola Mobility said it will continue to pursue claims against Apple. It said Apple had refused to negotiate in good faith.

The devices in question were the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3Gs and the iPhone4 and UMTS-capable iPads ? but not the iPhone 4S.

Florian Mueller, an intellectual property consultant who has been reporting on the cases on his blog FOSS Patents, said that the wording of the Karlsruhe decision only suspends enforcement of the decision until the court can hear a response from Motorola.

"This is a very, very temporary suspension," said Mueller. "Apple could be in the same situation again a week or two down the road."

The two companies are also at odds over what Motorola Mobility says is improper use of its push email technology that sends email to smartphones. The Mannheim court ruled in Motorola's favor Thursday, but Apple said it would appeal and that people using its phones would keep getting their email.

Real Estate Outlook for Guildford New Homes

February 2nd, 2012 by admin

The housing market in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world has struggled ever since the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008. As a result, many housing markets in the United Kingdom have struggled for the past several years. Despite this, the areas with prime housing are holding on pretty well relative to the rest of the market. In the Guildford area, the supply of good homes is a lot less than before. With basic supply and demand, this means housing prices will remain stable or go up. That?s why there are companies looking to build Guildford new homes. The Guildford area might be a place where buyers can find a good home at an affordable price.

There are key differences between the real estate market in Surrey and London. In London, a lot of demand comes from overseas. This has caused price appreciation, which is not good for buyers who have not already entered the market. Those who watched London from the sidelines may want to consider apartments in Surrey or Guildford homes instead. The amount of prime housing coming onto the market is scarce, but the demand is soft enough that prices are staying reasonable. Those who are selling right now should refrain from an inflated price. The demand is not there to support those kind of prices.

With the scarcity in prime quality housing, builders are looking to put up Guildford new homes. This will help keep the market from going up significantly like it has in London where there is very little physical space for new developments. As a result, this is an area where buyers can still get a relatively good deal on prime property since there is very little competition from overseas buyers who have stronger currencies than the British pound.

Buyers looking for real estate such as apartments in Surrey will find a lot of reasonably priced units that are of high quality. Sellers will be able to get a decent price on their homes, but demand will fall if the pricing is inflated. Buyers looking to store good value in real estate should seriously consider the Guildford area.

Online Business Advertising How To Build An Effective Online ...

How To Build An Effective Online Marketing Campaign...

And Get Cheap Traffic

business sense websitebuilder Online business advertising can be costly. Learn how you can create an online marketing campaign for free and buy website traffic to get cheap traffic pouring into your website every day.

Creating an online marketing campaign can be extremely expensive but it doesn?t need to be.

There are many ways to build an online business advertising campaign that is effective and at a low cost.

The first thing that you want to decide is how much money you want to spend on your advertising and where your hard earned dollars will be spent to give you maximum benefit before you buy website traffic.

Depending on your advertising budget you will need to source out the best value for the dollars you are planning on spending, regardless if your budget is large or small.

Before you embark on any ad campaign the first thing you should concentrate on is building a niche website and generating targeted FREE TRAFFIC.

If your website is not content rich and keyword focused you are losing out on a massive amount of traffic that doesn?t cost a dime other than your hosting fees!

The search engines are becoming more sophisticated in how they rank web pages so if your existing website doesn?t meet the search engine criteria you will not generate free traffic easily and will have to buy website traffic in order to be successful.

If you are just starting an online business or have an existing website that fails to deliver traffic take the SBI! Video Tour and learn how niche websites can deliver the ultimate in cheap traffic...Free Traffic!

If you have an existing website and are unsure of how well your site is doing you can take the traffic test here and see where your website stands.

How to generate Free and cheap traffic from an online business advertising campaign.

Article writing is one of the most effective ways to build traffic quickly. You can submit your articles to the article directories manually and for free and each article can be linked back to your website in the resource box provided.

When I start an online marketing campaign I use an article submission service called The Unique Article Wizard which auto submits my articles to hundreds of directories on my behalf. This is a great time saver and the cost is a small monthly fee.

Using the article wizard will enable you to see a dramatic increase in traffic almost immediately and the traffic will increase over time especially if you continue to submit your articles on a regular basis.

Over time the back links you create from writing articles and submitting them to the directories will really help in raising your web page rankings with the search engines as well.

Submitting your website to directories is an excellent way to generate free traffic. Many directories are free to submit to while others do charge in varying price ranges depending on the directories you choose.

There are also directory submission services and they auto submit your website to various directories on your behalf. Many of these directory submission services are very reasonable and will submit for mere pennies per directory.

Most now offer niche directory submissions as well to get more value from your back links and your online business advertising.

I use The Directory Maximizer which is inexpensive and handles all the e-mail confirmations for me. I find their service is a very economical way to increase web site ranking and save valuable time.

Directories are an excellent source for online business advertising and developing your web presence.

You are able to provide a description of you products and or services and at the cost incurred you truly will get cheap traffic from these sources.

Another method that I use for an online marketing campaign is submitting classified ads.

Most of the classified ads can be submitted totally free and some classifieds services charge a nominal amount for highlighting, the positioning of your ad and multiple city postings etc.

Similar to directory and article directory submissions they are time consuming to do and if your market is global you may want to consider using classified software to broadcast your ad.

There are many excellent providers of classified software on the internet but for most websites the following are appropriate.

My Backpage,? The Classified Connection and My Free Classifieds.

Personally I prefer the Backpage and My Free Classifieds classified software because they allow you to link your website urls to the ad.

The Kijiji submitter will not allow you to submit your urls so you can only receive e-mails from interested people.

I prefer to get the back links by having the ability to link ads to specific pages and making the information readily available to the visitor or prospective customer.

For that very reason I have not purchased the Kijiji classified software to promote my clients websites.

I do however manually submit to Kijiji and pay for the urls to be included.

Social media marketing is another terrific way for inexpensive online business advertising.

Using Facebook, Twitter, Blogs and other free sources all linked to your website will be very beneficial to increase website traffic.

It is very important though that you don?t try to use these sites as a straight sales funnel and turn people off.

I see and have experienced the value of using a social media platform however in my busy schedule I have to admit that this area is one that I don?t focus my time on enough.

To compensate for that I use a service called The Social Maximizer which promotes my social media sites very inexpensively allowing me more time to concentrate on my clients and my business.

Investigate everything before you execute your online business advertising campaign.

Of course there are many other techniques that can be added to your online marketing campaign at a later date if you choose to buy website traffic.

The techniques and services that I have described are an excellent starting point for your online business advertising but you need to track the results of your online marketing campaign carefully to determine the results of your efforts and money.

After all, I know how you feel when you?re dealing with issues such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. So you?re definitely not alone in this case.

I?ve heard from SO many clients each day who used to struggle with high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Even though I?ve been a very healthy and active person all my life? my cholesterol levels used to stay between 200-220 mg/dl.

My grandmother died from a heart attack at 69 years of age, my grandfather also died from a heart attack, and another grandfather didn?t recover from his quadruple by-pass surgery.

There was NO WAY I wanted the same kind of outcome in my life? dying from a heart attack at a young age.

Here?s what I mean. Not only did I feel destined to solve my own issues with high cholesterol, I felt driven to help others as well!

I just knew I wanted to avoid dangerous or expensive medications by treating my conditions naturally.

In fact, I?ve spent most of my adult life learning about alternatives and proper nutrition for treating these health conditions.

I even received a double bachelor?s degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science and became a Registered Dietitian because I was always interested in helping others overcome their health issues? quickly, easily, and naturally.

In fact, not only did I graduate with a dual major, I also graduated in the top 10% from an accredited dietetic program and then landed a highly competitive internship!

I guess you could say I was deeply focused on solving my own health concerns, as well as those that other people had.

I wanted to find ALL NATURAL things I could do, that were quick and easy, and that didn?t require me taking a lifetime of harsh, expensive meds.

In my years of schooling, I must have read hundreds of medical journals, books, and research reports on how to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

After years of research? after a ton of trial and error, I finally came up with a 7-step system that took my cholesterol from 220 all the way down to 161!

Using the techniques I learned, I?ve been able to maintain a Total Cholesterol to HDL ratio of 3.3, Triglyceride level of 38, hit a high HDL level of 82? ALL while keeping my blood pressure at or below 110/60!

This had such an amazing and positive effect on me; I decided to start my own private practice back in June of 2007.

These days, clients from all around the country come to see me when they need to lower their cholesterol, blood pressure, and lose weight.

And now, you too can learn the simple techniques I used to lower my cholesterol to 161 mg/dl and keep my blood pressure at 110/60.

By the way, it didn?t involve prescription drugs, over-the-counter treatments, or ANY other expensive or harsh drugs.

And now? Read more?

Judges skeptical of Texas in redistricting case (AP)

WASHINGTON ? The three federal judges who will decide whether the Texas Legislature's new Republican-friendly voting maps violate the Voting Rights Act expressed skepticism Tuesday about one of the state's core arguments.

John Hughes, a lawyer for Texas, which is seeking to keep the maps in place, said during closing arguments before a Washington federal court panel that the maps were the result of legal, partisan gerrymandering that didn't violate federal law. He argued that "a decision based on partisanship" is not based on race, even if it results in minority voters having less political influence.

"Political motivation is not evidence of racially discriminatory intent," he said.

All three judges expressed doubt about that line of reasoning, with presiding judge Rosemary Collyer making clear she wasn't swayed.

"It's really hard to explain (changes to the map) other than doing it on the basis of reducing minority votes," she said.

Judge Thomas Griffith also pressed Hughes: "Doesn't the law require map makers to look at the consequences?"

The Justice Department and a coalition of minority groups contend the legislative and congressional maps the Texas Legislature drew up last year recut districts in a way meant to dilute the state's burgeoning minority voting population. They say the maps violate a section of the Voting Rights Act that requires Texas and eight other mostly southern states with a history of racially discriminatory voting practices to get so-called "pre-clearance" from the Justice Department before making electoral changes.

Timothy Mellett, a Justice Department lawyer, argued Tuesday that the federal government believes there is overwhelming evidence the new maps would reduce minority voting clout, and that the burden should be on the state to prove racial motives weren't taken into consideration.

He also portrayed the state as unwilling to give a full account of how the maps were drawn, saying the state's claim that nearly all decisions were made at the staff level with minimal input from elected officials was simply not credible.

"The fate of the congressional delegation, 100 plus lawmakers, is being decided ... and (Gerardo) Interiano is a lone wolf?" Mellett said, referring to the Texas House's top redistricting staffer. "I find that implausible."

The Justice Department and the state were each given an hour each to make closing arguments Tuesday. Each of the minority groups was given 15 minutes to address the court. Their closing arguments were scheduled for later on Tuesday.

The federal panel in Washington hadn't indicated when it might rule in the case. In addition to two weeks of testimony, each side submitted thousands of pages of documents as additional evidence and each will be filing additional legal briefs to the judges next week.

The Washington trial has continued even as attention shifted to a federal court in San Antonio that is also grappling with the redistricting issue. After the U.S. Supreme Court rejected interim maps the court initially drew, it asked the San Antonio court to redraw the maps with more deference to the ones originally drawn by the Legislature.

The San Antonio court gave Texas and the coalition of nine groups until Feb. 6 to agree on temporary maps that would remain in place through November's election, or see the state's April 3 primaries delayed. But on Monday, an attorney for one of the groups said the settlement talks had stalled, putting the primary date in jeopardy.

In both proceedings, there's a lot on the line.

Texas will add four seats to its congressional delegation in 2012 because of adjustments made with 2010 census data. Both Democrats and Republicans believe the state will be an important factor in the battle for control of the U.S. House. Adjustments in Texas House and Senate maps could also affect the balance of power in the Legislature, though Republicans will almost certainly maintain control of both.

Florida GOP voters hurt by economy, foreclosures

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Republicans voting Tuesday in Florida's presidential primary expressed pain from their state's weak economy and housing foreclosure crisis and divisions over what to do about illegal immigration, according to early results from an exit poll of voters.

There was also a restlessness about their party's presidential field, with fewer than 6 in 10 saying they were satisfied with the candidates. Younger voters tended to be less pleased than older voters with the current crop of contenders.

Even so, around 4 in 10 voters said they'd chosen their candidates more than a month ago, a greater proportion than in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, the three states that have already held their GOP presidential contests this year.

Around 3 in 10 Florida voters said they were falling behind financially, more than in New Hampshire or South Carolina. The question wasn't asked of Iowa's voters. Nearly 6 in 10 said they are holding their own.

Half said home foreclosures are a major problem in their communities, reflecting the state's status as one of the hardest-hit in the nation by a glut of homeowners who have lost their mortgages.

Overall, 6 in 10 said Tuesday that the economy was the issue that mattered most in choosing a candidate. Around a quarter cited huge federal budget deficits.

In a state in which Census Bureau data shows that almost 1 in 4 residents are of Hispanic origin, more than a third of GOP voters Tuesday said illegal immigrants should be given a chance to become U.S. citizens. The rest were about evenly divided between saying those immigrants should be allowed to stay as temporary workers or should be shipped back to their home countries.

About 1 in 7 of those voting Tuesday were themselves Hispanic ? the first of the four states that have cast ballots so far in which the electorate wasn't virtually all white.

Underscoring Florida's reputation as a retirement haven, nearly 4 in 10 voters were over age 65, a higher share than in the three states that have already voted. Around 7 in 10 consider themselves conservative.

The survey of 1,979 voters Republican voters was conducted for The Associated Press and the television networks by Edison Research. This includes preliminary results among 1,379 voters interviewed Tuesday as they left their polling places at 40 randomly selected sites in Florida. In addition, 600 who voted early or absentee were interviewed by landline or cellular telephone from Jan. 23 to 29. The survey has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
