Church collecting relief items for Indiana tornado victims

JAMES ISLAND (WCSC) - A James Island church is working to provide relief for tornado victims in Henryville, Indiana.

Harbor Light Baptist Church Pastor Keith Burgess and his daughter Marie Perry are leading the efforts to collect a number of items for the residents who suffered from the massive damage that swept through Henryville last week.?

Burgess used to minister in Henryville, and Marie graduated from the Henryville High School, which was completely destroyed by the tornadoes.? They are hoping to have items loaded for transport by Thursday night.

If you'd like to help, you can take some of the following items to the church at 1300 Fort Johnson Road: usable tarps of all sizes, bungee cords, soap, towels, toothburshes, toothpaste, wash clothes, plastic storage containers of all sizes with lids, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene products, diapers, wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, bottled or jugs of water, and hand sanitizer.

The church will be open for donations from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. Thursday until evening.? If you'd like to make a donation over the phone, call (843) 795-4611.
