Family trio indicted in Fort Bend County credit union robbery

A Fort Bend County grand jury has indicted three members of a family in connection with a credit union robbery two months ago.

Ronald Scott Catt, 50; his son, Hayden Scott Catt, 20; and his 18-year-old daughter, Abigail "Abby" Catt, are accused of robbing the Katy-area First Community Credit Union on Oct. 1.

They were arrested Nov. 9 and have been held in the Fort Bend County Jail since then on charges of aggravated robbery. The two men have bail set at $140,000, while Abigail Catt's bail is $100,000.

Their arrests could help clear other bank robberies, both in Texas and in their home state of Oregon, according to a news release last month from the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

In the Oct. 1 robbery, two men entered the credit union in the 23100 block of Cinco Ranch Blvd., wearing orange traffic vests and dark sunglasses and held employees at gunpoint, the release said.

The younger man wore a fake mustache, and the older one wore a painter's mask. Abigail Catt is accused of driving the getaway vehicle, the release said.

Through investigation, the men were also linked to an August robbery of a Comerica Bank at Interstate 10 and Fry Road in Harris County. In that case, the robbers wore painter outfits with painters' masks, the Fort Bend County release said.

Detectives viewed surveillance video at checkout counters at a Home Depot at the same intersection and identified Hayden and Abigail Catt buying traffic vests with their father's debit card, according to the release.

Ronald Catt was later videotaped buying a painter's mask, the release said.

Fort Bend County detectives have notified Oregon authorities to see whether some unsolved bank robberies in the Portland area might match characteristics of the Texas cases, the release said.

In an unrelated matter, Hayden Catt failed to appear at a Sept. 27 court date in Harris County Court No. 11 on a charge of driving while intoxicated on Sept. 2, according to online records.
